The Family Child Care Program is a valuable part of the overall Child and Youth Programs. FCC providers allow increased availablity in child care needs of the installation. The FCC program offers the Expanded Child Card Program as a resource for families requiring nights, weekends and other 24/7 or unique childcare settings.
MilitaryChildCare.com (MCC) is a Department of Defense website for military families seeking childcare. This single online gateway provides access to a wide military-operated and military-subsidized child care options across all Services. It enables families to search for and request care, manage their requests, and update their profile online, making it easier for families to find the childcare they need. Families requesting care can register online at MilitaryChildCare.com.
Operate your own business from the comfort and convenience of your home! You will receive training that will allow you to care for our next generation. At minimal start-up costs, the FCC Program offers free equipment and training to help you support the Air Force mission of caring for children of military and civilian personnel. In accordance with AFI 34-144 11.17, Family Child Care Programs, Paragraph 1.3. "Any individuals caring for other families' children a total of more than 10 hours a week on a regular basis must be licensed to provide care in on-base quarters."
Family Child Care providers offer in-home care for children ages 2 weeks to 12 years as a supplement to the Child Development Center. Some providers may also offer alternative care such as weekend, flexible or extended hours and for very young infants or children with special needs.
FCC providers are required to undergo strict licensing requirements. They must be over 18 years of age, able to read and speak English and in good mental and physical health. They (and their family members) must pass comprehensive background checks and complete a basic orientation program prior to licensing. Once licensed, monthly home visits are conducted to ensure that every provider is consistently maintaining all Air Force standards to ensure the highest quality of care possible.
If you are interested in a FCC provider, schedule a time to interview to ensure a good match between both families. Have questions ready about their policies such as discipline, vacation and illness. It is important for you to know that Family Child Care providers set their own fees. Prior to starting care in the home families must sign a contract regarding policies and fees, provide a copy of immunization records of child/children, complete AF Form 1181 and if dual or single military, AF Form 357.
Feel secure knowing that you are placing your child in safe and supportive care that you want them to have by placing them in a Family Child Care home. They will be in a stimulating in-home environment that will provide them with the nurturing and developmental materials and interactions they need to thrive.

It's the parents' responsibility to fully complete the enrollment at MilitaryChildcare.com. Priority determiniation will be made unless space is available and no waiting list exists. The list is reveiwed daily by management.

Families PCSing to GFAFB need to update their MilitaryChildcare.com account's address and phone numbers. If this isn't received, your child will be removed from the waiting list. Filling out a wait list form does not guarantee a slot. A family may go up or down on the list due to another family of higher priority signing up for or declining care. It is always recommended that families have backup care.
If you have orders to move to a new base, or are arriving at Grand Forks Air Force Base, you are able to receive up to 20 hours of free child care from a licensed Family Child Care Provider. Bring your orders to the Airmen & Family Readiness Center and they will issue you a certificate forfree PCS care. Call the FCC office for information on FCC providers with current openings. The Air Force Aid Society sponsors this program and pays the provider directly for the PCS care.
The Child and Youth Program's "Parent Advisory Board" (PAB) is open to all parents of children using the CDC, SAC, FCC or YC programs. It's purpose is to increase awareness of all CYP activities and provides opportunities for parent involvement in events and program activities.
The PAB meets quarterly in February, March, August and November. The meetings are held at the Child Development Center. For more information and specific schedule contact 747-3027.
